I have wanted to try some DIY camera projects over the years, but I have been limited by the fact that I know very little about film developing. Does anyone know where I could learn about how to develop film?

Slide film is normally processed in an E-6 process where it comes out positive, but you can run it through the regular wal-mart c-41 machine and it will turn out more contrasty, and with the colours shifted. This is what they usually mean by "cross processed". You can also run normal film through e-6 chemistry and you'll get lower contrast and a bit different shift in colour, but cross processing slide film is usually more attractive.
